A Clinical Study of the Blood Transfunsion during Operation


Abstract
2387 cases of transfusion from 9864 anesthesias were devided into two groups. Group A consisted of 654 transfusions out of 2051 anesthesias from April 1, 1975 to March 31, 1978, and group B included 1733 transfusions out of 7813 anesthesias from January 1, 1982 to December 31, 1984. The results were as follows.
I. The average amount of transfused blood was 2. 4 pints per one patient in group A and B, and there was no significant difference between the amount of transfused blood per one patient in elective surgery and in emergency surgery in both group. The average amount of blood transfused per one patient was the largest in the patients with hepatic lobectomy.
2. The frequency of transfusions during operation was the largest in the General Surgery patints, while the average amount of transfused blood per one patient was the greatest in the Chest Surgery patients in both group.
3. Transfusions less than one pint were the most common in both group.
4. The most common age group of the patients who needed blood transfusion in group A was 3rd decade, while 6th decade in group B.
5. The most frequent type of the blood transfused was the type A blood and the type AB blood was least frequently transfused in both group.
6. The preoperative hemoglobin levels of the most patients were between the range of 11.0~11.9gm% in both group.
